Narcissus or Daffodils

N. Thaila                                    5W-W                     1916  Historic

n. thalia

One of the few daffodils that opens all white. The petals are swept back and the cup is short and round. I have seen these growing in large drifts under large oaks. Growing from Texas to Florida they ask only for some shade from the afternoon sun. Thaila blooms late but is one of the most graceful flowers I have ever grown. Two to three flowers per stem. Fragrant.

One of the very best daffodils growing in the South. They are blooming on old vacant lots and farms all over north Louisiana. Praised by every Southern Garden Writer. I have never read more glowing reviews than have been written about this one daffodil. Yes they love it in Florida, Texas and everywhere in between. Rounded yellow petals with a yellow cup. A great fragrance and makes a good cut flower. It multiplies fast. Very Tough. Ours are in the lawn. You need this daffodil if you are in the south.

This is one of my last to bloom. It is found growing at old homes across the south. Last spring I stood in a field where these were blooming by the thousands between the weeds and briars. It was amazing to see so many at one place. Please look in the photo gallery even though a picture could never do them justice. They have endured the test of time. Two white blooms per stem with small yellow cups. A charming part of our past.
